Vintage Distressed Card

I am continuing to try and make some cards with a distressed or vintage feel to them, since I have bought the fabulous Stampin' UP! distressing kit things have got so much easier!!  It is terrific value at just £14.95 for a kit conaining 4 distressing inks, various files, a rubber block.

I used  Because I Care level 1 hostess stamp set for this card, the flower is beautiful and I thought I would try to capture the fading colours of these flower heads in Autumn. All of my card edges have been ripped and distressed, I used the En Francais background stamp for the text before covering it with Tea Stain  and Mahogany distressing inks. I stamped the flower head and used my water brush to colour the image using Stampin' Write markers, bleding the colours together, I then added more Tea Stain Distressing ink before lightly misting and scrumpling all of the layers, once opened flat I used Champagne Shimmer Paint made into a fine misting spray to add a bit of sparkle. Once the layers were dry I assembled the card and added some lovely taffeta ribbon that I had dragged the distressing ink over to match the card.  I used the colour spritzer tool to mist a bit of colour around the edges of the card.

Colours are Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede.

I am quite pleased with teh result of this card, and I would like to make a couple of scrapbook pages in this style as I am really enjoying scrapbooking some of the many photos of Lucy and Philip at the moment.

Happy Birthday Sarah Jane

Today it is Sarah Jane's birthday!!!   It wouldn't be a Birthday without cake - so here is the card I  made for Sarah Jane, one of my Stampin' Up! "sisters".

The papers are Blushing  Bride from the "In Colours" level 1 hostess paper pack, layered with Chocolate Chip, the image is from the On A Pedestal stamp set and coloured with Stampin' Write Markers, I changed the sentiment and used the Happy Birthday from the level 1 hostess stamp set After Thoughts.  More of the gorgeous ruffeld ribbon and pearls.

I have an "In Colours" ribbon share, so if you are wanting to get hold of some of this lovely ribbon you can read about it here.

Hope you have a lovely Birthday Sarah Jane, with of course lots of cake!!!  Enjoy your special day!!

Get Well Soon Chris

Yesterday Chris one of my Stampin' Up! sisters was having knee repalcement surgery, so a card was needed to cheer her up.

One of my favourite colours at the moment is the "In Colour" Pear Pizzaz, perfect for my card with some gorgeous spotty paper from the Level1 hostess gift and of course matching ribbon ruffled with some lovely pearls.  The stamp set is Happiness Shared, coloured with the Water Colour Wonder Crayons - they are so easy to use, I know I'm going to be using them alot!!  I added a scalloped edge to the layers and the sentiment is from Trendy Trees stamp set, punched and layered up with tiny pearls.

Hope your surgery was a success Chris and your home again soon.

Mini Scrapbook School House

Well I do seem to be a bit more organised with my blog this week and decided to schedule a couple of posts as I have been really busy making projects lately but I have just not had the time to share them here.

This is a mini scrapbook project I first saw Michelle Last demonstrate at the Stampin' Up! European Convention last November.  It is very simple to make and Michelle has kindly shared her instructions.

This is my house all closed up with its roof on....

I used the brightly coloured Celebrations designer papers with the matching quick accents  - there are two sheets of 12x12 adhesive strips and die cuts in each pack.

I used small photos left over from the pack of school photos of Lucy as they were just the right size and didn't need much trimming,  These papers are perfect for my school theme and I added some die cuts to the pictures so I could put Lucy's age next to the photo - it doesn't seem 5 minutes since she started school, never mind almost 5 years!!

The "roof" also doubles as a card so you can add your message or add a little bit of journaling as I did.  It is nice to sometimes make a project without any stamping!!

If you would like to see  Michelle's Scrapbook House's please visit her blog.

It is the second meeting of my new Scrapbook Club on Friday night. I am really enjoying my scrapbooking, I just wish I had made more of an effort to do something with all of those photos left in the cupboard or even worse stored on the computers - never printed!! If you would like to join my Scrapbook club please contact me for details - kits can also be purchased via mail order.

I would like to welcome my friend Liz to Stampin' Up! this week.  Liz has finally decided to join my team of Sparkly Angels!!  I am looking to develop my team further this year, so if you are looking to do something with your hobby, why not contact me and become an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator??

If you sign up before the end of February you can choose an extra stamp set FREE worth up to £44.95 - making the starter kit increddible value as you will receive almost £270 worth of Stampin' Up! products for just £119 - giving you the perfect oppourtunity to get your new venture off to a great start!!

Scrapbook Club

I will be holding my scrapbook club on Friday, for this months layout I decided to use Black and Cream colour theme.  I think this has worked out well and gives a lovely elegant feel to the layout and would work well with so many different photos.

I used the Circle Circus stamp set to create the background for the layout - there are a lot of layers on the first page as one of the best things about Stampin' Up! products is everything works together - I have used various punches to layer up the stamped circles.

I have altered the photos of Lucy, changing them to black and white to fit in with my theme, adding a couple of buttons from the Neutrals Collection with the punched circles. I bravely used the stamp-ma-jig with the Broadsheet Alphabet stamp set for "Lucy" stamping directly on to my page.

Adding some of the gorgeous wide black and cream grosgrain ribbon, pleating it with a couple of pearls adding to the elegant feel of this layout.  The circles were again punched and layered up to make a little embelishment for the ribbon. I used the Journaling Pen to record a few details about the photographs.

In real life the colours are really vivbrant as Darran seemed to capture the early morning light through the trees perfectly - Lucy is sitting amongst the blue bells on her way back down from Roseberry Topping.

I am really enjoying making use of the photos left un-printed and neglected on the computer!  If you would like to find out more about my scrapbooking club please contact me for further details.

Valentines Class

These are the Valentines projects we have been making in my classes this month.  I have used the heart shaped treat cups on the card - a perfect size for a Rolo sweet!  Yes it was the last one as I ate the rest of the packet while I made this set up!!

I used the I (heart) Hearts and Confetti  stamp sets with Real Red ink stamped on to Pretty in Pink card, with Real Red card for some of the punched layers.  The card has a slidding door so that you can take out the Rolo if you wish without damaging the card. The greeting is from the Fun & Fast Notes stamp set but I thought it would make a nice Valentines sentiment and coloured it with a Stampin' Write marker pen and punched it out with the Modern Label punch, layering it with the Wide Oval punch.

The heart clip keeping this milk carton box closed was the inspration for my project. When I spotted them I knew exactly what I would make using them!  Now all that is left to do is find something suitable to put in the box????

I have also made this set in Baja Breeze and Soft Suede,  giving the set a more elegant look, perfet for an Anniversay.

Well I must get on and make a start on the usual washing and cleaning before the house is turned back upside down as Darran plans to paint the ceiling in the living room this weekend????

There are still a few places left for the All Day Papercraft Extravaganza - details at the top of my blog - please contact me to book your place.

Happy Birhtday Gemma

Today it is Gemma's Birthday - hopefully Mr Postman has already delivered lots of beautiful handmade cards and presents!!  Have a wonderful Birthday Gemma!!

This is the card I made Gemma, using the gorgeous Sale-a-bration Bliss stamp set, it looks so elegant and suits Gemma's current "vintage" style perfectly!!  You can take a peak at some of  her beautiful creations here.

The colours are Rich razzleberry, Early Espresso and whisper White.  I stamped the vine image in Pretty in Pink and Rich Razzleberry ink , and I used the same colours for the "rock & roll" butterfly before cutting out and adding a sparkly rhinestone trail, "Bliss" is stamped with Early Espresso ink.

I better get on and finish clearing my desk and put some of my stamp sets away before its time to collect Philip for "another" hospital appointment!!  I have had so many appointments since November - so fingers crossed the splints will be right as they have finally agreed the last pair were no good - thankfully his school shoes have managed to hold together, but they definately won't last much longer!!!
